Abstract

 This canvas is inspired by the onset of Autumn and the burst of warm reds and oranges as the leaves of the Pin Oak in our front garden responded to the change in the Season.

 A big brush, a big canvas, plenty of acrylic paint, and total freedom, Gallavantine is a favourite of mine because of the expression of movement. Right now it is hung above my armchair and it greets me with a breath of fresh air every time I come in.

 I have been enjoying the freedom of painting with big brushes, and this was my first experiment using a Chinese calligraphy brush and watercolour. The free paintings regimented on a red background is for me a pleasing juxtaposition of order and chaos.
